Born Sanelisiwe Twisha in 1987 in Port Elizabeth, she moved to Durban in 2005 to study fashion and even started her own clothing line called Moonchild Cultwear. She’s been performing since 2006, blending poetry with her family’s love for hip-hop, jazz, and kwaito music. You might have heard her on the radio show Poetry with King Siso back in Durban, where she first started getting noticed.

After teaming up with DJ Shimza, Red Bull took notice and helped her perform at some awesome music festivals and sponsored her recordings. Once she moved to Johannesburg, she dropped her first album, “Rabulapha!,” in 2015 and started making waves in the music scene, collaborating with other cool artists like DJ Maphorisa and Missu.

But her big break came when she joined Die Antwoord on tour in Europe in 2018. Then, she hit the big time when she featured on Beyoncé’s soundtrack for “The Lion King: The Gift” in 2019. She’s been on fire ever since, working with Gorillaz, Die Antwoord, Ghetts, Major Lazer, and more!

She even had her own talk show called “The Madness Method” on BET Africa, which was super fun. Moonchild keeps dropping catchy singles like “Yebo Teacher” and “Covivi,” and her second album, “Phases,” came out in 2022, mixing up different South African dance styles with pop influences.
