When Bandile and Banele Mbere were just five years old, they left their home in Boston, USA, and moved to South Africa. It was there, at the age of 16, that they threw a legendary party called the ‘Robot Party’ that changed everything for them. Originally, they started out as party promoters, hosting some of the biggest parties in the country. But soon, they found their passion for music and became DJs.

Growing up, the twins were surrounded by music thanks to their father, who was a pianist and introduced them to a wide range of genres like gospel, jazz, RnB, and hip-hop. Sadly, they lost their father to a heart attack when they were young, but his influence stayed with them. They learned to play the piano from him and eventually decided to pursue music professionally after finishing high school.

In 2008, they officially formed Major League DJz and started blending hip-hop and kwaito music styles, calling it the “New Age Kwaito”. Since then, they’ve released albums and singles like “The Bizness”, “Do Better”, and “What’s The Levol”. They’re also famous for their “Major League Gardens” events, where they showcase live hip-hop and house music performances with various artists.
