Mthembeni Ndeu, better known by his stage name Emtee (stylized as eMTee), was born in the mid-sized town of Matatiele, Eastern Cape, South Africa. Raised in the vibrant township of Rockville, Soweto, Emtee’s journey into music began at a young age. Emtee’s career took off at the age of 17 when he delved into the world of music. His breakthrough came with the release of his debut hit single, “Roll Up,” in 2015. Signed to Ambitiouz Entertainment, Emtee quickly rose to prominence with his unique style and captivating lyrics. His debut album, “Avery” (2015), proved to be a commercial success, earning platinum certification from the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA). The album featured hit singles like “Roll Up” and “We Up,” solidifying Emtee’s status as a rising star in the South African music scene.


Following the success of “Avery,” Emtee continued to make waves with his second studio album, “Manando” (2017), paying homage to his late high school friend. He then released his third album, “DIY 2,” in 2018, showcasing his growth and versatility as an artist. Despite parting ways with his former record label, Emtee remained determined to make his mark in the industry, establishing his own record label, Emtee Records.

In 2021, Emtee achieved another milestone with the release of his highly anticipated third studio album, “Logan,” which debuted at number 1 in South Africa. Now, fans eagerly anticipate the release of his long-awaited album, “DIY 3,” slated for 2024, marking the third installment of his DIY projects.

Personal Life

Beyond his music career, Emtee’s personal life is filled with love and family. He shares two sons, Avery and Logan, and a daughter, Nairobi, with his childhood sweetheart turned wife, Nicole Chinsamy, whom he married in 2019. Emtee’s deep connection to his family is evident in his music, with his debut album named after his first son, Avery, and his 2021 album paying tribute to his second son, Logan.
